Rockwood Park

A visit to Saint John should include a visit to Rockwood Park. With 2200 acres of land and 26 kilometers of groomed trails, it is the perfect family getaway and it has something for everyone in the family including a special park and dedicated environment for your dog. It is a great way to spend quality time with your pet and the dog can burn off energy by running and playing with other dogs in a safe, contained area.

Rockwood Park
The Interpretation Centre at Rockwood Park carries many brochures and literature for the area.

The rest of the family members are also offered several options depending on their preferences. Rock climbing, rappelling and geocaching are all popular pastimes at Rockwood Park. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where you use a GPS to seek hidden containers. In Rockwood Park, caches have been hidden and GPS receivers have been set up with the coordinates so they can be found.

Tent & RV campsites are available to fully enjoy your stay.

Swimming is offered in several lakes all of which are protected by lifeguards. If you prefer being on the water rather than in it, kayaks, canoes and paddleboats can be rented at the Pavilion for use on Lily Lake.

Take a dip at Lily Lake or Fisher Lake. Lily Lake also offers kayak, canoe and paddle boat rentals.

Is golf your game? Well, be sure to visit the Rockwood Park Golf Course. Day tripping is very popular and rentals for all equipment are available at the Lily Lake Pavilion. There are excellent mountain bike trails and horse and guide are available through the Rockwood Park Stables.

Cherry Brook Zoo is also within Rockwood Park and has over 100 animals including monkeys, lions, tigers and more.

Special events are held throughout all seasons and everyone is welcome. There are fishing derbys, charity events, model boats floating in the water. There are myriad varieties of birds and the deer, the squirrels and the chipmunks will practically eat out of your hand. If you want to see the more exotic type of wild animals, Cherry Brook Zoo is a short walk away on a moderate fitness trail system.

Fisher Lake. Paddling canoes and kayaks are some of the many ways in which Rockwood Park can be enjoyed. There are several businesses that rent them by the day and hour as well.

There is so much to do at Rockwood Park for the whole family, it is the PLACE for outdoor family fun for all ages and interests. If you are a camper, campground facilities are available and picnic tables are located all through the Park. For all outdoor and nature enthusiasts Rockwood Park is the place to be.
